Throughout the year we hold various raffles/tombolas which we find is a great way to raise much needed funds. The money raised by such activities will go towards the treatment and rehabilitation of the many brain injured children we see the hope that you will be able to generously provide another prize this year.

For the last thirty years, brainwave has been independently striving to offer an integrated provision to meet the needs of children with disabilities and special needs. Children with profound and multiple disabilities, weather caused by brain injury, genetic conditions, autism or learning difficulties rely on a bored range of input and are particularly vulnerable to the negative effects caused by deadly, lack of integration and poor communication.

Over the years Brainwave's package of support has been specially tailored to respond to family's current concerns and needs.

  • Brainwave uniquely offers an initial assessment of two days for every child and their careers. During this time:
  1. The individual needs of the child and his or her family can be fully understood
  2. Parents and carers can share their concerns, aspirations and needs with Brainwaves therapy teams composed of physiotherapists occupational therapists, teachers and other disciplines, so realistic expectations can be agreed and disappointed avoided
  3. Once assessed, an appropriate programme of therapy and educational exercises are prescribed and taught to the child and family which are subsequently practised in the home on a daily basis
  4. Appropriate therapy equipment is provided, so there are no delays in starting the programme on the family's return home
  5. Each programme is recorded whilst the family is at the Centre and a dvd given to the parents to provide a visual reminder of the sequence and detail of each exercise. A separate written explanation about the exercise is also provided.
  6. A report is written and copied to the parents and statutory providers within the NHS / education is offered services etc. as appropriate
  7. Family accommodation is offered at our South West Centre in one of five bungalows
